Parish Meeting held 16th April 2002, 7.30 pm

The minutes of the meeting held on 13th March were read and approved. The accounts for the year to March 2002 were produced and made available to the meeting.  Matters arising  included a) possible reduction in insurance premium following the removal of the bus shelter b) Unpaid bill for grass cutting.  Work done without orders.  New officers to sort out.

Election of officers.  Mr. Hallam and Mr. Harvey stepped down from their posts of Chairman and Clerk.  Mr. Crossdale was proposed for Chairman, Mrs. Smith for clerk. There being no other nominations, the meeting moved on to election of other village representatives as follows;

Womersley Burial Board - Mr. M. Dearnley.

Gale Common Forum - Mr. B. Crossdale

Eggborough Power St. Forum - Mr. R. Bottomley.

Mr. M. Dearnley proposed a vote of thanks for Mr. A. Hallam, who had served in most of these posts for almost thirty years, and was supported by all present.

A report on the liaison committee meeting with Darrington Quarries on the 18th March was given by Mr. Crossdale. A new and much larger excavator has been brought in to do much of the work formerly done by the "pecker", which should reduce the amount of noise produced.  However the pecker will still be used between 10.00 and 16.00 on Mondays and Thursdays to break up large rocks.

Plans for Mr. Bamford and for Mr. Toole were examined, and no objections raised to either.

The Queen’s Golden Jubilee was discussed, possibilities of giving mugs to the children.

Selby District Council is to be contacted to install road name signs, particularly for Wrights Lane.

The Chairman then closed the meeting.

The next meeting is to be held on May 28th, at  7.30 in the Village Hall.
