Christmas
Party Last weekend, 18 of the younger village children had great fun at a traditional Christmas party held in the festively-decorated Village Hall. Game such as musical statues, pass the parcel, pinning the nose on Rudolph, prizes and presents were the order of the day. The festive buffet was much enjoyed by children and helpers.
The
party drew to a surprising finale with an unexpected visitor who arrived,
resplendent, in red outfit and shiny black wellies. After chatting to the
excited children, Santa distributed gifts which included soft toys, books,
art and crafts kits, games and rucksacks.
There was even a surprise under the tree for Santa, which we
understand he thoroughly enjoyed. He
hopes to be back next year!!!! A
big thank you to everyone who helped make this party a resounding success. Forthcoming Events Christmas Carols will be sung in several places around the village on 22nd December (this Sunday) starting at 6.30pm.
Anyone wanting to join in should meet at the junction of Wrights Lane and
Cobcroft Lane. Remember to
bring a torch. Seasonal
refreshments will be on sale afterwards at the Village Hall. Photographs The sale of photographs showing Cridling Stubbs in bygone days is proving
very successful. All proceeds
go to the Village Hall. Ask
around for details. Refuse Disposal Until the end of March, residents can take their rubbish to Selby Road,
Eggborough (not Weeland Road as previously advertised) on Saturdays
between 8.00 and 10.00am. A
return to Ferrybridge Civic Amenity Site is still being negotiated between
NYCC and WMDC.
Real Christmas trees can also be disposed of by recycling at Crown Garden
Centre, Whitley on 4th and 5th January. When is a bus stop not a bus stop? When it’s a Taxibus stop. The
new sign outside the village hall does not signify a general bus stop but
is for the South Selby Taxibus. Time
tables are available on request. Next Parish Meeting The next Cridling Stubbs Parish Meeting is to take place on
Tuesday 7th January 2003 at 7.00pm in the Village Hall.
Items on the agenda include the setting of the Parish Precept
2003-4, provision of litter bins in the village, the Educational Trust
Fund, the application for Aggregates Levy Sustainability Funding,
an update on the situation at Darrington Quarries, applications for
funding to
improve the village and dog fouling in the village. Merry
Christmas and A
